Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef sirloin thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger grated
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and sesame oil. Mix well until the cornstarch is dissolved. Set aside.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger, stirring constantly for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the beef slices to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the broccoli florets and beef broth. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes until the broccoli is tender-crisp.
  • Return the beef to the skillet with the broccoli. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli, stirring well to coat everything evenly. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  • Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if desired), adjusting the flavors to your preference.
  • Remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

To make your Beef and Broccoli Stir-Fry a resounding success, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
  • Slice the beef thinly to ensure quick and even cooking.
  • Blanch the broccoli briefly before stir-frying to retain its vibrant color and crisp texture.
  • Stir-fry the beef in small batches to prevent overcrowding the skillet and ensure proper browning.
  • Customize the spice level by adjusting the amount of red pepper flakes to suit your taste preferences.
  • Allow the dish to rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.
