  • Today I wanted a simple and delicious cake. Got hold of an old favourite from @awwmagazine which was a great baking companion a good 15 years ago when I started blogging, and headed to the kitchen. I’m sharing the recipe of this lemon teacake with you: 100g softned butter 75g caster sugar Rind of 2 big lemons 1 egg 150g self-raising flower 2 tablespoons of lemon juice 80ml buttermilk 20g melted butter 🍋pre-heat oven 180oC. Grease and flower either 8 muffin tins or a small cake tin. Reserve, Then beat first 4 ingredients until light and creamy, then add the other 3, and stir it into the mixture until reach a homogeneous batter. Transfer to prepared tin and bake for 25 min. In the meantime mix 100g of caster sugar plus thin strips of 2 lemons which will be used to sprinkle over the cake when ready. Once cake is ready let it cool in tin for 10 min, then brush the warm cake with the melted butter, and sprinkle the lemony sugar generously. Enjoy it!!! 🇧🇷Com a chuvinha que caiu pela manha fiz um bolinho simples, velho conhecido para comer acompanhado de um cafezinho. É só um teacake de limão. Bem simples. Vou dividir a receita: Unte e polvilhe 8 formas de mufin ou uma forma pequena de bolo. Reserve. Pre-aqueça o forno-180oC. 🍋100g de manteiga amaciada 75g de açúcar refinado Raspas de dois limões grandes 1 ovo 150g farinha de trigo com fermento 2 colheres de sopa de sumo de limão 80ml de buttermilk ou coalhada (sem açúcar) 20g manteiga derretida 🍋 Bata os 4 primeiros ingredientes por uns 4 minutos - mistura clara e leve. Depois acrescente os outros três E misture delicadamente para incorpora-los. Transfira pra forma, asse por 25 minutos. Enquanto isso misture 100g de açúcar refinado com tirinhas longas de casca de limão. Quando o bolo estiver pronto tire do forno e deixe esfriar 10 min na forma. Passe a manteiga derretida nele ainda morno e salpique com a mistura açúcar com limão.   • This is a photo that I didn’t want to publish for various reasons. One of them is the fact that I planned three different ways of dressing @johngs Dark Chocolate & Halva tart, but things didn’t go as planned on the dressing-up front. The tart is lovely with a delicate base and velvety chocolate filling with bursts of halva flavour in places. It’ll certainly be the talk-of-town as the center piece of a celebration table. As I want to make it for a celebration coming up, I wanted to play with tempered chocolate to make chocolate shards as decoration pieces and a ‘lid’ for the tart. I also made leaves with the excess pastry. Just to add another texture. I need to work on my tempering as the outcome isn’t what I wanted. Not shiny, and when I tried to make the holes on the ‘lid’ it snapped in places. Nonetheless, the tart is beautiful, and you can find the recipe in John’s latest book inspired by Lebanese Food called ‘Saffron in the Souks.. 🇧🇷 Passei dias pensando nesta torta: fiz a masa primeiro, depois o recheio e por fim algumas peças pra decorar. Além de umas folhas feitas com a massa também temperei o chocolate para fazer uma ‘tampa’ e umas lascas. Era pra ser um estudo para a decoração que quero fazer em breve. Mas não deu certo a história do chocolate - tenho que melhorar a técnica de temperar. E na verdade quase nem publiquei a foto aqui, mas nem só de sucessos se vive. E resovi compartilhar de qualquer forma. Pelo menos a torta ficou ótima. Ela tem uma massa gostosa, e adoro fazê-la bem fina. Tenho obsessão na verdade. E o recheio fica cremoso e com toques de halva de vez em quando. A receita está no último livro do John Gregory Smith chamado ‘Saffron in the Souks’ que foi escrito inspirado na culinária do Líbano. Se quiserem escrevo uma review no Trembom agora que parece estar resolvido o problema e ele deve estar no ar de novo. Deixem no comentário se quiserem.   • I only have a tripod for my camera, so when I use my phone I have a few limitations which sometimes result in a creative moment. Here I ended up chucking my cherries into a man made cangaroo-type pouch to share them with you. Do you use a tripod when using your phone camera? There’s a market on north end road in Guildford every Friday & Saturday. I often know the provenance of my fruit, but When unable to do my shopping elsewhere I go there. Lately I’ve been getting cherries and eating them to my hearts content. I want to use some if these for some baking this time. What fruit are you eating a lot of at the moment? 🇧🇷 Só tenho tripé para a minha camara, então quando uso meu celular tenho que ser um pouco criativa às vezes. Aqui criei uma bolsa tipo de canguru para mostras as cerejas enquanto tentava focar com a outra mão. Quando vc usar o celular tendes a usar um tripé? Há uma feirinha em Guildford toda 6a e sábado aonde às vezes compro minhas frutas. Infelizmente nem sempre dá pra saber de onde vem o produto, e quando não consigo ir a um@Farmers Market em um vilarejo perto faço minhas compras aqui. Ultimamente ando comendo muitas cerejas - amo.   • The weekend weather was perfect for summery dishes, with the sunny days and high temperatures for this part of the world. I got some cheesecake ready for a bit of indulgence on a whim.   • Think of a very thin-crust pizza topped with minced lamb and Aleppo pepper and you have lahmacun, the Armenian pizza. The base is crisp and at the same time flexible, so you can eat the slices with your hand. We had ours at @erebuni_restaurant_london near the Barbican. I liked it so much that I’ll reproduce it at home one of these days. Have you ever had it? 🇧🇷 Pense numa pizza bem fina com uma cobertura de carne de cordeiro moída e pimenta de Aleppo. Esta é a lahmacun, a pizza da Armenia. O tempero é delicioso, e a base ao mesmo tempo que é crocante é maleável, e as fatias podem ser comidas com a mão. Provei no restaurante Erebuni em Londres, perto do Barbican. Gostei tanto que quero reproduzir em casa um dia desses.   • I’m determined to take my pack lunch most week days, and this week I’ve been having these lovely ricotta rolls. This batch has been made with a mixture of cavallo nero, dill, chives, parsley, a few sprinkles of a Georgian seasoning I learnt to make during my trip and ricotta. You could use silverbeets, or even kale I reckon. I had a few leaves of wild garlic in need of attention so just chucked them in as well. I’m already thinking of what I could use next time. That’s greed for you😁 It’s great picnic food too. I’ve been making ½ recipes, and they yield 4 regular rolls. You can even get 8 if you make them smaller. Btw, if you make the full recipe and buy ready rolled puff pastry, you’ll need two standard UK packages - it’s approx 350mm x 230mm. One isn’t enough for the whole recipe. If you google ‘donna hay silverbeet and ricotta rolls’ you get the recipe. 🇧🇷Estou determinada a voltar a levar meu lanchinho pro trabalho durante a semana. Pra variar o conteúdo esta semana estou com uns rolinhos de massa folhada assados no forno, e com um recheio gostoso de ricotta(a daqui é pastosa), dill, salsinha, uma cebolinha bem fininha que se tem aqui aonde vivo, cavalo nero (acho que couve deve dar legal também), e um temperinho legal. Vc pode usar massa folhada pronta. E vou te dar a dica de que para meia receita a massa tem que ser de 350mm x 230mm. Pra receita inteira tem que usar mais massa.   • These are such a treat - I make half the recipe if it’s just me (about 5 small pitta). I’ve been making them on and off since I got #bazaarthecookbook by @sabrinaghayour. It’s so quick to put together, and delicious. I made this in the morning when I felt like something more than bread & butter - which I love. If you have Sabrina’s latest book, look for ‘za’atar-rubbed pittas’ where she tells you even how to prepare the za’atar blend yourself. 🇧🇷Adoro estes mini pães sírios com za’atar do último livro da Sabrina Ghayour chamado Bazaar. O za’atar transforma estes pãezinhos em algo especial. Receita super prática gente. Ela até ensina como fazer o za’atar caso vc não o encontre facilmente. Me conta se você tem o livro dela?
